Don't get your hopes up too high - 13th to 17th October (The Clash of the E-Commerce Titans)

I'm not sure if by looking at the title you are able to comprehend anything about what this post is about. But, considering that you are looking at a post in a tech-only blog I'd say you have a fair idea of what this is about. If not, don't worry, I don't mind elaborating. This October, with Diwali around the corner,  two of India's biggest e-commerce companies, Flipkart and Amazon ( Snapdeal is trying something too but I'm not gonna be talking much about that) made it their top priority to satisfy their customers as much as possible and make this Diwali their most memorable one. But, unfortunately, they decided to do it at the same time :-( . Amazon India somehow decided to hold their 'Great Indian Festive Sale' in the same time Flipkart holds it's annual 'Big Billion Day sale'.

So, what I basically wanted to do was try to explain what they are really concentrated on and try to compare them before they begin, to give you an idea about carefully maneuvering through their tricky waters .

FLIPKART BIG BILLION DAYS SALE:

This annual bumper sale from Flipkart is making it's second appearance this Diwali. The first time it was held, there was a lot of mixed reviews from critics and common people alike. While some early risers had a field day shopping, some people faced several minor and major glitches while adding items to their cart, checking out, etc. So, this year flipkart vowed to make the customer experience as trouble-free as possible.

Earlier, the sale was mostly based on huge discounts only. This year, they have taken away the monotonous experience and have added a few contests, quizzes and so on. But still, it is mostly a discount-based sale. They've also tied up with some banks like the SBI, Citibank, etc. to create new discounts.

This year, the sale is also app-only, so you'd better get your hands on a good smartphone beforehand.

Also, flipkart suggests that you make a wishlist well in advance to make things easier for you.

AMAZON'S 'THE GREAT INDIAN FESTIVE SALE':

This Pre-Diwali sale from Amazon has sure made many heads turn. It is also known that lucky winner of a lot-based contest will get a KILOGRAM OF GOLD.

Unlike Flipkart's sale, this sale is more based on prizes and lucky chances to win contests. But they have also increased their no. of products which is a great boost. While Flipkart's sale is totally app-only, this only partially app-only( on 16th & 17th). Also, app users get 15 min early access to their products.

Amazon is quite obviously trying to take on Flipkart this week so grab some popcorn and get ready to see the legendary battle unfold.
